Senior Corporate Counsel Opportunity

Taylor Root is partnering with a UK headquartered, PE backed logistics and real estate business to find a Senior Corporate Counsel for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This role will provide parental leave cover and start in December.

About the Role

This is a senior position that involves working closely with the UK and European management and business teams to provide advice across all jurisdictions in which the business operates. The successful candidate will report directly into the General Counsel and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal, risk, insurance, and corporate governance matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on legal, risk, insurance, and corporate governance matters across jurisdictions in Europe.
  • Oversee and advise the business on their internal approvals process.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts.
  • Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution as necessary.
  • Oversee the renewal of property and corporate insurance programmes and assist with the handling of material claims.
  • Implement strong corporate governance practices and procedures.
  • Draft policies and procedures for various business areas.
  • Implement training across the business.
  • Advise on applicable UK laws and regulations and ensure compliance with EU and UK laws and regulations.
  • Liaise with key shareholders, investors, business partners, and external counsel.
Requirements
  • 10+ years' post-qualification legal experience.
  • A mixture of private practice and in-house experience.
  • Corporate and commercial legal background with the ability to adapt to various areas.
  • Real estate legal experience is not required but is beneficial.
  • Experience negotiating high-value, complex contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage junior staff, manage external counsel, and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate advice to the business.
