Senior Corporate Counsel Opportunity

Taylor Root is working with a UK headquartered, PE backed logistics and real estate business to find a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide parental leave cover. The role will start at the beginning of December and will involve working closely with the UK and European management and business teams.

The ideal candidate will have a generalist corporate and commercial skillset and will be able to provide advice across all jurisdictions in which the business operates. The role will involve supervising 3 lawyers in the UK and a legal operations manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading on a wide range of legal, risk, insurance, and corporate governance matters across jurisdictions in Europe.
  • Overseeing and advising the business on their internal approvals process.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Managing and overseeing litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution as necessary.
  • Overseeing the renewal of property and corporate insurance programmes.
  • Implementing strong corporate governance practices and procedures.
  • Drafting policies and procedures for a range of business areas.
  • Implementing training across the business.
  • Advising on applicable UK laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Ideally, 10+ years' post qualification legal experience.
  • Ideally, someone who's had a mixture of both private practice and in-house experience.
  • Corporate and commercial legal background, with an ability to turn hand to a variety of areas.
  • Real estate legal experience is not required, but helpful.
  • Experience negotiating high-value, complex contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage junior staff, manage external counsel, and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and being able to articulate advice to the business.
