About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our team at Apex Careers and Staffing Limited. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care and support to individuals based on their personal needs and care plans.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Care and Support Provision
  • Deliver high-quality care and support to individuals based on their personal needs and care plans.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, medication administration, meal preparation, and mobility support.
  • Promote the dignity, independence, and well-being of service users.
Supervision and Leadership
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior support workers and care staff.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating best practices and offering advice when needed.
  • Assist in training new staff, ensuring they understand care plans and safety procedures.
Monitoring and Reporting
  • Regularly monitor the health and well-being of residents and promptly report any concerns or changes to senior management or healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including care notes, medication logs, and incident reports.
  • Participate in care plan reviews and contribute feedback to ensure residents receive appropriate care.
Communication and Relationship Building
  • Establish positive relationships with residents, families, and external agencies to ensure effective communication about residents' needs and progress.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to both residents and their families.
  • Act as a point of contact for residents, addressing concerns and queries.
Health and Safety Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, conducting risk assessments and implementing safeguarding measures.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents.
  • Follow infection control procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Problem-Solving and Crisis Management
  • Respond to challenging behavior or crises in a calm, professional manner, using de-escalation techniques where necessary.
  • Provide practical solutions to problems and ensure residents' emotional and physical needs are met during difficult situations.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, sharing insights and suggestions to improve care delivery.
  • Assist with the allocation of duties and ensure adequate staffing levels during shifts.
Personal and Professional Development
  • Engage in ongoing training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Reflect on performance and actively seek opportunities to improve care delivery.
