Join Our Team as a Senior Procurement Category Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Category Manager to join our team at Wakefield Council. As a key member of our procurement leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our procurement strategy and delivering value for money for our residents.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for the procurement of goods, services, and works for Wakefield Council. You will work closely with our directorates to understand their business needs and develop innovative sourcing opportunities that deliver value for money.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a professional, customer-focussed service for the procurement of goods, services, and works
  • Develop a category-led approach to procurement, influencing spend and understanding business needs
  • Develop innovative sourcing opportunities that contribute to a positive legacy within the Council
  • Play an influential part in shaping procurement solutions that deliver value for money and focused outcomes
  • Manage a small team of procurement professionals and act as a deputy for the Head of Procurement as required
Requirements

We are looking for a CIPS qualified (level 6) professional with a strong record of success in a large multi-disciplinary organisation. You will need to be strong on governance and an excellent communicator who can demonstrate strong judgement at senior level and be a credible leader.
