Wakefield Council is seeking a talented Senior Procurement Category Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Procurement Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our procurement strategy and delivering value for money.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced procurement professional who can provide a professional, customer-focussed service for the procurement of goods, services, and works. You will be responsible for developing a category-led approach to procurement, influencing spend, understanding business needs, and developing innovative sourcing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a best-in-class service for the procurement of goods, services, and works
  • Develop a category-led approach to procurement, influencing spend and understanding business needs
  • Develop innovative sourcing opportunities that contribute to a positive legacy within the Council
  • Play an influential part in shaping procurement solutions that deliver value for money and focused outcomes
  • Manage a small team of procurement professionals and act as a deputy for the Head of Procurement as required

Requirements

  • CIPS qualified (level 6)
  • Strong record of success in a large multi-disciplinary organisation
  • Strong governance and communication skills
  • Excellent judgement and leadership skills
