Fleet Superintendent Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Superintendent to join our team at Red - Specialist Recruitment. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the strategic management of our fleet, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage fleet operations, including daily vessel operations and client service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with vessels' statutory and classification requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on operational and technical matters to crew, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Support the Compliance Department in implementing the Safety Management System.
  • Maximise vessel productivity and minimise downtime.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and audits to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and QHSE systems.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the Operations department to maximise efficiency and cost savings.
  • Prepare reports on repairs, equipment, and vessel condition to inform effective vessel management.
  • Evaluate contractors, suppliers, and shipyards, verifying suitability and considering QHSE, insurance, financial, and operational requirements.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers and contractors to deliver a fast, effective, and cost-focused repair service.
  • Plan and manage dry-docking, major repair, and planned maintenance activities.
  • Review dry-docking/major repair processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate vessel operational and technical activities, communicating with key stakeholders.
  • Initiate and conduct investigations into operational difficulties and technical failures.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and update management information systems as necessary.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide Masters with voyage instructions and prepare vessels for contract requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and communicate clearly on operational and technical matters.
  • Participate in emergency response and deal with incidents effectively.
  • Engage in best operational and technical practice, focusing on continual improvement.
  • Support the performance and development of direct reports.
