Key Responsibilities

The post-holder will manage a caseload and address a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, upholding the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

According to the practice timetable, the post-holder will be available to undertake various duties, including:

  • Surgery consultations
  • Telephone consultations and queries
  • Visiting patients at home
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion

The post-holder will make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.

They will assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, and develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.

Additionally, the post-holder will provide counselling and health education, collect data for audit purposes, and compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

This role requires advanced skills and knowledge, making it an excellent opportunity for GP Specialist training.
