Senior Molecular Assay Developer

At ProtonDx, we are pushing the boundaries of science and technology to improve healthcare outcomes. Our team is dedicated to developing innovative medical diagnostics and related technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of molecular assays.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in molecular assay development, particularly in the context of isothermal amplification chemistries, including LAMP. They will be responsible for developing and validating highly sensitive and specific in vitro molecular assays for the detection of pathogens associated with humans, animals, plants, and other areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing molecular assays for the detection of pathogens
- Validating and optimizing assay performance
- Conducting phylogenetic/genomic analysis for comparative analysis of assay specificity
- Contributing to scientific R&D projects through hands-on design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments
- Resolving complex technical challenges in line with clinical diagnostic assay requirements
- Accurately recording and presenting scientific results through laboratory records, written reports, and presentations
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant life science discipline
- Significant experience in molecular assay development and optimization, particularly in the context of LAMP
- Experience in relevant laboratory techniques, including PCR, LAMP, and nucleic acid extraction and optimization
- Experience working to strict quality standards and in regulated environments
- Solid understanding of bioinformatics tools and methodologies
- Experience leading projects and independently delivering against agreed timescales and outputs
