Job Overview

Main Responsibilities

The Transformation Unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the finance team as a Finance Business Partner. The successful candidate will support the Clinical Support Services Division in providing a comprehensive finance business partnering role, including:

  • Business case development and support around budget setting and financial reporting
  • Developing plans for elective recovery and efficiency programs
  • Providing value through financial advice and challenge
  • Building strong relationships with Clinical Directorate teams to help them develop and realize their strategic aims
Main Duties

The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring monthly budget monitoring reports are robust and take accurate account of all appropriate accruals
  • Planning and coordinating the development of the annual budget for the division
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, forecasts, costings, and business cases
  • Working closely with the Deputy and Head of Divisional Finance and fellow Finance Business Partners to ensure the finance function makes an influential contribution to the Division's managerial and business objectives
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent communication and relationship skills, with the ability to communicate technical data in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to present analysis and interpretation of financial and non-financial information in an NHS acute provider context
  • Experience of working in a financial management position, ideally within the NHS
  • Knowledge of NHS financial management procedures and processes, ideally in an NHS acute provider organization
  • Experience of setting income and expenditure budgets and of financial forecasting
  • Experience of advising finance and non-finance managers on financial and budgetary matters
  • Knowledge of NHS financial information systems
  • Able to design spreadsheets and databases for analyzing and presenting information
  • Knowledge of NHS Commissioning arrangements, in particular as they relate to complex acute providers
  • Experience of providing financial advice and guidance for business cases
Requirements

The successful candidate will be a CCAB finalist or have a minimum of two years' experience working in financial management, ideally in an NHS context. They will also be able to plan projects that impact multi-disciplinary teams, deliver to tight deadlines with high-quality outcomes, and contribute towards medium-term financial planning goals.
