Exciting Opportunity for Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The Transformation Unit is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in TMJ Surgery. This is a replacement locum post with a 10-month contract.

About the Role

As a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, you will join a busy department providing services to patients in Oxfordshire and on-call services to the wider Thames Valley. You will be involved in both general OMFS work and specialist TMJ work, contributing to the development of pathways for TMJ patients at local, regional, and national levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train Specialist Registrars, Foundation year doctors, Dental Core trainees, and Dental SHOs.
  • Work with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, achieving compliance with 18-week and other targets set by the Trust and nationally.
  • Engage in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, and quality improvement activities.
  • Hold a Certificate or eligibility for CCT in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or within 3 months of award.
  • Have evidence of experience in trauma and TMJ surgery.
  • Have experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
  • Be on GMC specialist list for OMFS or within 3 months of eligibility for inclusion.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, with a specialist interest in TMJ Surgery. They will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
