Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the post of Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in TMJ Surgery, based at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a replacement locum post and is a PA job plan.

Main Duties
  • The successful candidate will be expected to be part of the team delivering general OMFS services.
  • They would also be expected to provide a general and specialist TMJ service for OMFS.
  • The postholder's duties will be based mainly at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, although there may be a requirement to visit other hospitals within the trust or to some of the other hospitals within the Thames Valley.
  • The postholder will be expected to actively participate in the supervision and training of Specialist Registrars, Foundation year doctors, Dental Core trainees and Dental SHO's.
  • The post holder is expected to work with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, achieving compliance with targets set by the Trusts and nationally.
  • The post-holder will participate in all clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust.
  • He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, and the running of his/her clinical service under the direction of the lead clinician and/or directorate chair.
