Job Title: Senior STATs Officer, Chelmsford

Join Essex County Council as a Senior STATs Officer and take on a leadership role in our STATs team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that Statutory Undertaker (STATs) information is provided to our business streams in a timely and efficient manner.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position based at Seax House, Chelmsford, with occasional travel to Colchester as required. As a Senior STATs Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the STATs team and monitoring their performance
  • Ensuring that STATs information is provided to our business streams in a timely and efficient manner
  • Developing and implementing new policies and procedures to improve our STATs service
  • Providing first-line support and solutions to issues arising through the STATs process
  • Reviewing and updating the list of Major Undertakers and ensuring that Minor Undertakers apparatus is recorded accurately
  • Liaising with Senior Management and other teams to understand potential peaks and troughs in the service
  • Continually developing the STATs system and assisting with the use of systems and data for collating and reporting relevant performance and management information
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual who can lead our STATs team and drive our service forward. You will have:

  • Educated to RQF level 6 or equivalent by experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to drive a team, set targets, maintain high standards and manage a small team
  • Communication skills, adaptable and approachable with the ability to deliver excellence and build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of budgetary governance and controls and an understanding of the impact changes in legislation may have on the deliverables
  • Proven ability to act as a valuable team player and build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally
  • Good IT skills and conversant with Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
