Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Wellbeing and Public Health Officer to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Public Health team, you will play a crucial role in driving work that will enable us to develop a clear vision and priorities for improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Essex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the children and family's team, the corporate analytics team, procurement team and NHS to produce a needs assessment, benchmark the existing service, monitor the existing healthy child programme, develop new initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Essex.
  • Bring specialist knowledge of substance misuse treatment, governance, procedures and practices across substance misuse field.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately and to inspire and gain the confidence and participation with a range of internal and external stakeholders and engagement partners.
  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the commissioning cycle, project life cycle and related activities gained within a commissioning environment.
  • Experience of delivery of public services and managing change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of working in a political environment, working effectively with members and senior officers across the council and partner agencies.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level and/or appropriate professional qualification relevant to the field or equivalent by experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately and to inspire and gain the confidence and participation with a range of internal and external stakeholders and engagement partners.
  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the commissioning cycle, project life cycle and related activities gained within a commissioning environment.
  • Experience of delivery of public services and managing change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of working in a political environment, working effectively with members and senior officers across the council and partner agencies.
