Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Category Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Category Lead to join our team at Thames Water. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of commercial strategies to drive business growth and improve supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Strategy Development: Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive business growth and improve supplier relationships.
  • Supplier Management: Manage a portfolio of suppliers to ensure contracted expectations are met and to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Category Knowledge: Provide extensive category knowledge and market insight to internal stakeholders to inform business decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders to shape category approach, business needs, spending, and suppliers.
  • Tender Evaluation: Lead and evaluate competitive tenders and proposals for the supply of goods and services.
  • Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate reporting on sourcing projects using available reporting tools.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Expertise: Proven commercial expertise and experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead complex supplier negotiations and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: Competitive salary from £45,000 to £55,000 per annum depending on experience.
