Company Overview:
The NHS is seeking a highly skilled Care and Support Specialist to join its Community Behaviour Support Service in the North East.
This part-time role, contracted at 22.5 hours per week, requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families and nursing home staff caring for individuals with dementia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support qualified staff in initial contact with new clients, ensuring a warm and welcoming approach.
- Assist in assessing the needs of individual clients, developing treatment plans, and strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
- Form strong relationships with clients and their carers built on mutual support and respect.
- Work in partnership to implement planned written support, acting as a liaison for families and carers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with individuals with dementia-type illnesses and challenging behaviour.
- Sound understanding of dementia, its impact on individuals and carers.
- Familiarity with interventions used to manage challenging behaviours.
- Awareness of safeguarding principles and practices.
Salary and Benefits:
An estimated salary of £23,500 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits package including health insurance and pension scheme.
