Test and Calibration Engineer

Estimated Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per annum

About the Job:

We are looking for a skilled Test and Calibration Engineer to join our team in Rugby. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, calibrating and maintaining high power laser diode systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out high power laser diode testing, including power, spectrum, near-field and far field beam profiling, polarization and thermal performance on various mounted and unmounted laser diode bars and chips.
  • Develop and document accurate procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Create and implement calibration procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Setup, calibrate, test and troubleshoot circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.
  • Present complex results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop new test stations and methodologies, integrating equipment hardware and software.
  • Manage test scheduling and results database.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of test station accuracy, repeatability and productivity.

Key Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and meet high-quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent working with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Practical experience with lasers or equivalent experience in electronics/mechanics.
  • Familiarity with measurement instrumentation, such as optical power measurement heads, pulsed and CW current sources, micro-positioning and scanning systems.
