Job Title: High Power Diode Laser Specialist

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled High Power Diode Laser Specialist to join our team in Rugby. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for testing laser systems in a laboratory environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To perform high power laser diode testing, including power, spectrum, near-field and far field beam profiling, polarization and thermal performance on various mounted and unmounted laser diode bars and chips.
  • Development and documentation of operating procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Development, execution and documentation of calibration procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.
  • Analysis of testing data and presentation of complex results in a consistent and concise reporting format.
  • New test station and methodology development, including integration of equipment hardware and software.
  • Manage test scheduling and results database.
  • Ongoing focus on improving test station accuracy, repeatability and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to high quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent work style with a focus on deadlines.
  • Prior experience with lasers is beneficial, but practical electronic/mechanical assembly and test engineering skills are essential.
  • Working knowledge of measurement instrumentation such as optical power measurement heads, pulsed and CW current sources, micro-positioning and scanning systems.
