Job Description: Part-Time Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Job Summary: We are seeking an exceptional part-time Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our Pupil Referral Unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our pupils.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safeguarding Lead: Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring all policies and procedures are rigorously implemented.
  2. Safeguarding Support: Provide expert advice and training to staff on identifying and managing child protection issues.
  3. Collaboration with External Agencies: Work closely with social care, health, and police services to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements.
  5. Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff to create a safe and inclusive environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection, preferably in an educational or alternative provision setting.
  • Empathy and Resilience: Demonstrate empathy and resilience when working with vulnerable young people.
  • Relationship Building: Showcase your ability to build strong relationships with multi-agency teams.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with statutory safeguarding frameworks and best practices.
