Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and ambitious individual to head the day-to-day work of the Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC) secretariat. The CDSC was established by French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions Michael R. Bloomberg in June 2022 to address the global climate data challenge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the governance, processes, and policy responsibilities of the CDSC, working closely with those delivering data and technical solutions around the Net-Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU). This role requires someone who is strategic and has a deep understanding of climate transition data and disclosure frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Show thought leadership on climate transition data and disclosures at the international level;
  • Manage the governance, membership, and wider processes for the CDSC effectively;
  • Support the Chair of the CDSC and other leaders through time, including briefings for formal CDSC meetings and events;
  • Engage with the wider preparers and users of climate transition data and the climate data ecosystem;
  • Oversee the work of a Secretariat lead who would support you across the portfolio and work closely with the data and technical team delivering the NZDPU.

Requirements:

  • A track record of being a thought leader on climate data and disclosure frameworks;
  • 5-8 years' experience in relevant public policymaking or private data preparer/user roles;
  • Ability to show thought leadership and plan and deliver policy-based work underpinned by high-quality analysis and informed by effective stakeholder engagement;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to discuss complex policy with senior stakeholders;
  • A track record of game-changing engagement on complex policy issues.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
