Design Studio Lead

Crown Paints is seeking a highly skilled Design Studio Lead to lead a team of 5 studio creatives, ensuring the team is set up for success in delivering against creative briefs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, support, and evaluate performance of the design studio team.
  • Ensure the output of work from the design studio adheres to brand guidelines and maintains consistency across all brands.
  • Act as the relationship manager between the Design team and the Marketing team.
  • Assess briefs, liaise with designers to assist with studio time estimates, and identify the correct designers for each project.
  • Plan work into the studio, considering flexibility for quick turnaround jobs and larger, longer-term projects.
  • Ensure all work is saved to the design server on an ongoing basis and filing protocols are adhered to.
  • Liaise with designers to identify training and upskilling needs.
Requirements:
  • Develop the design studio team, identify high-potential candidates, coach, and deliver feedback.
  • Drive performance and be comfortable with difficult conversations.
  • Execute soft management skills, building trust, honesty, and openness within the team.
  • Understand the creative design process, end-to-end.
  • Be organized and able to re-plan the studio workflow as needed.
  • Be a good communicator, firm but fair, with great stakeholder management skills.
  • Be in tune with developing business needs, responding with team development and training where needed.
Software Skills:
  • Sound working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software packages.
  • Experience with project management software (Adobe Workfront desirable).
  • Some experience with Microsoft packages such as PowerPoint and Word.
