Payroll Officer

Our client, a highly successful organisation, is seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join their team in Redhill, Surrey. The role offers a hybrid working pattern, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home after training.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, including:
- Calculating, recording, and processing staff payments, with adjustments made as necessary.
- Distributing payslips in accordance with the monthly payroll timetable.
- Completing and submitting PAYE, NI, pension, and other statutory returns by the due date.
- Managing agent payments on behalf of HM Inland Revenue, Teachers Pension Scheme, Local Government Pension Scheme, and other bodies.
- Ensuring contracts are in place for hourly paid staff and processing payments only on authorised contracts/pay claims.
- Undertaking tax and pension year-end procedures, preparing returns for HM Inland Revenue, and issuing P60s, P11Ds, and other year-end documents.
- Monitoring and analysing payroll data, including pay costs, staff sickness, maternity, and jury service.
- Reconciling transactions relating to enhanced pension arrangements for former employees.
- Ensuring budget holders and nominees are aware of deadlines and procedures.
- Maintaining documentation for payroll team procedures.
- Acting as a key point of contact for the Finance department.
The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of payroll and pension procedures, strong Excel skills, and a hybrid working pattern that suits their needs. The role also offers a competitive salary, 27 days holiday, and 8 days bank holiday, as well as a good pension scheme.
