Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our Radiotherapy Physics Section at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical physicist to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical scientific and technical services to our Sunrise Clinical Oncology Centre. Key duties include treatment planning, radiation dosimetry, quality assurance, machine maintenance, teaching, training, and research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with scientific and radiographic professionals to ensure image networking and processing meets requirements.
  • Responsible for checking individual radiotherapy plans before delivery, ensuring accuracy, quality, and minimal dose to critical organs.
  • Independently carry out routine quality control on treatment machines, CT simulation equipment, and specialized treatment planning computers in radiotherapy.
Requirements

Essential Qualifications
  • A good honours degree in a relevant subject (1st or 2nd class).
  • A relevant MSc or higher degree.
  • IPEM Diploma or equivalent in Medical Physics or Medical Engineering.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist.
Experience

Essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge across radiotherapy physics working procedures and practices.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, professional, and other guidelines.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including Office suite and specialist software systems.
Salary:
£55,000 - £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
