Anaesthetic Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at King's College Hospital. As a key member of our Department of Anaesthesia, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing high-risk surgery, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of our department's business plan.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff and contribute to the development of our department's business plan.
- Take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of our department's business plan, including fostering and developing projects focused on improving patient care and outcomes.
- Be aware of and comply with all Trust infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental, and food hygiene.
- Be accountable for the implementation of the Code of Practice within your department/area of responsibility.
- Additional qualifications or diplomas in specialist areas, such as Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences, or Regional Anaesthesia.
- Full Registration with the GMC and completion of a subspecialty training program in anaesthesia.
- Eligibility to apply for a Substantive Consultant post, with a CCT or within 6 months of completion.
- Wide experience in the delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high-risk surgery, and trauma/cepod surgery.
- Award of CCT or equivalent.
- Major trauma management experience.
- Experience in high-risk obstetrics.
- Pre-assessment and perioperative medicine experience.
- Additional training or fellowship in a specialist area.
- Experience in the day-to-day organisation of anaesthetic services in a busy teaching hospital.
- Familiarity with the current structure of the Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Management course and/or qualification.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of medical audit.
- Must have undertaken and completed audit projects and QIPs.
- Experience of clinical research.
- Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of anaesthesia.
- Publication of relevant review articles or case reports.
- Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation.
- Teaching qualification.
- Experience of teaching PROMPT.
