About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetic Consultant to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
  • Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the department's/ Division's Business Plan.
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies.
  • Be accountable for implementation of the Code of Practice within own department/area of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Additional qualifications/diplomas in specialist areas for example, Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences or Regional Anaesthesia.
  • Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programme in anaesthesia.

Desirable Skills:

  • Wide experience in delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high risk surgery and trauma/cepod surgery.
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics.
  • Pre-assessment and perioperative medicine experience.
  • Additional training/fellowship in a specialist area.
  • Experience in day to day organisation of anaesthetic services in a busy Teaching Hospital.
  • Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
  • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects and QIPs.
  • Experience of clinical research.
  • Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation.
