Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrologist Associate or Associate Director to join our team. As a key member of our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team, you will be responsible for leading hydrological contributions to a wide variety of projects for our external and internal clients.

You will work closely with other disciplines within the water team to drive the direction of projects and oversee the work of junior hydrologists. Your expertise will be essential in delivering flood risk management projects, including FCERM studies, major infrastructure projects, and strategic studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead hydrological contributions to projects, including flood risk management, FCERM studies, and major infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with other disciplines within the water team to drive project direction and oversee junior hydrologists.
  • Develop and implement flood hydrology study approaches, including scoping and quality assurance.
  • Prepare project and technical reports, presentations, and proposals for clients and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage flood hydrology studies within our teams.
  • Mentor and develop junior hydrologists, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Support business development through identifying prospective opportunities and leading on proposal preparation.
  • Provide project, commercial, and financial management for projects.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver high-quality solutions.
Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of UK hydrological techniques, the Flood Estimation Handbook, and recent updates.
  • Experience of low flow hydrology, non-real time (flood mapping), and/or real-time (flood forecasting) studies.
  • Experience of undertaking hydrology reviews for statutory bodies.
  • Commercial experience, including project management and bid preparation.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Relevant experience of delivering infrastructure projects or working with local authority/national government.
  • Drive and ability to develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Chartership with a relevant professional body (or commitment to work towards within an agreed period).
