We are looking for a dedicated Literacy and Numeracy Specialist to join our team at Novus. As an Outreach and Class-Based Functional Skills Tutor, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of learners by helping them develop their maths and English skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons to adults and young people in a variety of settings, including the education department and designated rooms on the Prison House Blocks. Your enthusiasm for education and dedication to our learners' success will make you a valuable asset to our team.

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week over four days (Monday to Thursday). All planning and marking are done on site within working hours, with no requirement for additional extra-curricular activities apart from those completed during your working day.

The salary for this role is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, based on experience. You will have access to excellent training and development opportunities, working closely with an experienced Hub Manager and a supportive team of six colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in class and one-to-one to L1 exam level.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in education.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (or Level 5 new standards), with a commitment to obtaining the relevant outstanding Level 4 (or Level 5 new standards) qualification within a specified timeframe.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • A track record of effective teaching in subject specialism.
  • A clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
