About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Port Health Officer to join our team at Gazelle Global Consulting Ltd. This is an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health professional to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, enforcing health regulations, and advising on port health issues to maintain public and environmental health standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of the port to ensure compliance with national and international health regulations.
  • Advise on and take enforcement actions in response to port health issues.
  • Lead and develop specialized areas within Port Health, staying up-to-date with changes in legislation and best practices.
  • Represent the Port Health Service in liaising with stakeholders, including government bodies, businesses, and the public.
  • Assist in the execution of the Port Health Service Business Plan by planning and undertaking inspections, interventions, and casework.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Health, recognized by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Registered with the EHO Registration Board (EHORB) and a Chartered Member of CIEH.
  • Postgraduate qualification relevant to Port Health work, such as Food Safety.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and feed controls, public and environmental health legislation, and border control post operations.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Experience in Port Health and Environmental Health practices.
  • UK driving license.
