Our Work

We evaluate climate change and energy policies, including emissions, renewable energy, and energy efficiency policies. We assess economic impacts, including costs, benefits, and other social effects of government policies and regulations. Our work also involves auction design and/or simulation, competitors' analysis, development of pricing systems for transport infrastructure, and preparation of expert reports on economic and finance issues in litigation and international arbitration proceedings.

Research Officer and Economic Analyst Role

As a Research Officer and Economic Analyst at NERA, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills and knowledge gained during your graduate studies to regulated industries across various jurisdictions. You will perform and develop cutting-edge economic analysis on complex real-life issues, write research reports, and prepare client presentations. You will also influence project strategy, collaborate with in-house experts and outside academics, and develop and strengthen project and people management skills.

Requirements

  • Hold a BA/BSc and a Master's or PhD in Economics and/or Finance, with exceptional academic records.
  • Enjoy microeconomics and quantitative research.
  • Be comfortable working in Excel, Stata, R, Python, or other quantitative software platforms.
  • Have strong attention to detail and be able to think analytically and critically.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, and fluency in another language would be useful but is not essential.
  • Be able to work effectively both individually and in teams.
