Head of Inclusion Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team as Head of Inclusion at HMYOI Wetherby. As a key member of our education team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all learners receive the support and inclusion services they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all support and inclusion services, including staff and sub-contracted agencies, to ensure effective delivery of support interventions.
  • Work closely with other YOI departments and staff to identify, assess, and meet the special educational needs and disabilities of all learners.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive individual learner Educational Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans) and ensure regular updates and monitoring.
  • Provide specialist support and training for education staff and YOI staff working within the establishment.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of learners while in custody, including training of staff and maintaining accurate records.
  • Manage contracts of sub-contracted agencies working within education support and inclusion services.
  • Oversee and have strategic responsibility for an effective Outreach service within the YOI.
  • Use data to ensure contract compliance and inform the delivery of, and access to, appropriate learning and skills programmes.
  • Work with the Deputy Head of Education to plan and manage the effective allocation of learners to relevant and appropriate education provision.
  • Develop and implement policies, strategies, and processes to meet the special education and training needs of learners.
Requirements:
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Have experience in managing support and inclusion services, including staff and sub-contracted agencies.
  • Have knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities, including EHC Plans.
  • Have experience in providing specialist support and training for education staff and YOI staff.
  • Have experience in safeguarding learners while in custody.
