We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced knit specialist to join our team at the University of Edinburgh.

Job Description

As a knit specialist, you will work closely with undergraduate Fashion & Performance Costume students throughout their year groups, providing expert guidance and support in garment making processes and techniques. Your expertise will be essential in helping students create outstanding final collections for Graduate Show, Fashion Show, and Performance Costume Shows.

The knit workroom is a dynamic and growing facility that serves a diverse range of students across programmes, including Fashion, Textiles, and other disciplines within the School of Design and the School of Art. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver instructional training in domestic and industrial knitting and garment making processes and techniques to students of varying abilities via in-person and digital methods.
  • Develop and implement engaging teaching materials and resources to meet the needs of students.
  • Collaborate with programme leaders and academic staff to ensure seamless delivery of knit-related content.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant HNC/HND qualification or equivalent level vocational qualifications, supported by significant work experience in knit-related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering high-quality training and instruction to students.
