We are seeking a skilled Chef to lead our kitchen team and provide nutritious meals for our residents. As a Care Home Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and preparing daily menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
You will ensure that all food is fresh, within budget, and served with a focus on quality and presentation. Additionally, you will maintain a clean and organized kitchen, implement health and safety standards, and train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare daily menus to meet the dietary requirements and preferences of our residents.
Create meals that are both tasty and visually appealing while managing food costs effectively.
Monitor food stocks, order supplies, and maintain accurate records of inventory.
Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served according to the highest hygiene and safety standards.
Train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation and service.
Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, including proper food handling and storage.
Keep the kitchen clean and organized, including regular deep cleaning.
Build positive relationships with residents and their families, responding promptly to their feedback and requests
Skills and Attributes:
Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
Excellent cooking skills with a strong understanding of various techniques.
Knowledge of nutrition and the ability to create menus that meet specific dietary requirements.
Strong communication and leadership skills to motivate your team.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage your time effectively.
Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications:
Food Hygiene Certified – Level 2 (with a willingness to work towards Intermediate Food Hygiene qualifications).
First Aid Certified.
NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/
