Job Title: Software Integration and Test Engineer

Orbex Space is seeking a highly skilled Software Integration and Test Engineer to join our team in Forres, Scotland. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and integrating software for our orbital launch vehicle, Orbex Prime.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work closely with our team of expert engineers to develop and test onboard software for Orbex Prime.
  2. Develop test equipment and integration projects to support the development of onboard software.
  3. Support trials on our test site and at the AIT site for the full vehicle.
  4. Collaborate with the test and validation team to diagnose defects and implement feature changes to flight software.
  5. Develop embedded test tools for flight software validation and run unit tests of modules.
  6. Requirements analysis, design documentation, and review of feature requests against the current baseline.
  7. Reviewing HW schematics change requests and evaluating impact on Orbex Prime performance and development timelines.
Requirements:
  1. BSc, MSc, or PHD in Computer Science or practical experience in a relevant field.
  2. Confident in C/C++, Python programming, Gitlabs, Linux.
  3. Ideally some experience as an Embedded Software Developer.
  4. Low-level software debugging on-target.
  5. Experience with real-time operating systems, FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, etc.
  6. Experience with hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzer or oscilloscope.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Candidates with an understanding of high reliability or mission-critical software practices such as MISRA C or DO178B would be preferred but not essential.
  2. Experience writing, implementing, and debugging communication protocols such as UART, SPI, RS232/485, CAN BUS, etc.
  3. UDP packet monitoring and processing.
  4. ARM CoreSight tooling, ARM Compiler.
