Job Overview

The Shift Operations Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the technical function and maintaining company quality standards. This position requires the ability to work under pressure, both as part of a team and on own initiative, with effective communication skills to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production team where possible to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide engineering solutions and assist in an operational capacity to maintain machine performance.
  • Monitor all machines and ancillary plant to identify areas for improvement.
  • Follow preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Repair machines during production and perform planned maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect equipment outside production hours and participate in weekend overtime working as required.
  • Carry out scheduled work to restore machines and site back to standard.
  • Assist in colleague training and development when required.
  • Ensure good work practices and housekeeping are maintained throughout the department.
  • Drive personal development through training and work-based experience.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a food factory environment is advantageous.
  • Fully completed apprenticeship with packing experience is desirable.
  • Basic computer literacy is required.
  • Able to communicate and motivate others is essential for this role.
  • Understanding of internal systems and processes, with the ability to work within these parameters.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented individual with a positive disposition and clear focus on meeting deadlines.
