Job Purpose:

The Manufacturing Engineer role is to transform customer demands into effective manufacturing methods that meet the required lead-time and cost. This involves continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to reduce lead-time, cost, and non-conformance. As highly skilled practitioners, Manufacturing Engineers are expected to be involved in the operation of manufacturing processes to deliver the final product. Working with research themes, their practical insight will be used to influence technology roadmaps to ensure future manufacturing capability is developed and deployed into the workshop to further optimize manufacturing methods.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement manufacturing methods and sequences.
  2. Provide quotations for lead-time and cost.
  3. Create CNC programs for components in 3/4/5 Axis.
  4. Resolve non-conformance to ensure in-spec products are delivered to customers.
  5. Collaborate with customers to optimize product design (DfM) to ensure optimal manufacturing methods can be generated.
  6. Optimize current manufacturing capability to reduce waste, such as reduced tool wear or SMED.
  7. Manage the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop.
  8. Influence the creation and deployment of future manufacturing capability roadmaps to ensure world-class processes are operated.
  9. Develop and coach technicians in manufacturing processes.
  10. Operate manufacturing processes to deliver customer deliverables.
  11. Share lessons learned and best practices with engineering teams.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:
  1. Significant and proven experience and technical expertise in a manufacturing discipline.
  2. Degree qualified in an Engineering, Industrial, or Manufacturing discipline.
  3. Experience of developing and producing methods of manufacture.
  4. Ability to translate customer requirements/technical drawings into a MoM.
  5. Ability to use CAD software (Solidworks/NX or similar).
  6. Ability to use CAM software (NX/HyperMill or similar).
  7. Desirable Lean manufacturing principles.
  8. Experienced in using Solidworks and NX for CAD/CAM.
