Job Title: Category Management Director

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Category Management Director to join our team at the NHS. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a critical role in delivering strategic category management plans and driving cost savings across our organization.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic category management plans to drive cost savings and improve procurement efficiency
  • Manage large procurement projects, including tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier management
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on procurement processes, protocols, and policy to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and cost savings opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
Requirements:
  • Advanced Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or similar professional institute
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Evidence of having undertaken Supply chain management training, Purchasing procedures workshops, and Additional specialist courses
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
  • Project Management PRINCE 2
Experience:
  • Proven experience in category management, procurement, or a related field
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement, including EU Principles, UK Law, and best practice guidance
  • Experience of managing complex procurement projects and delivering cost savings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide effective solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Skills:
  • Advanced IT skills, including specialist software for contract management and e-tendering
  • Excellent presentational skills, with the ability to convey complex information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously, with credibility at a senior level of the organization
  • Developed knowledge of Microsoft products and ability to use initiative and knowledge to suggest and implement process improvements
Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time permanent position, working within a fast-paced team. You will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver category management plans and drive cost savings.

The salary for this position is £48,270 to £54,931 per annum, inclusive of HCAS.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
