About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Medicine Specialist to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a General Medicine Lead Clinician, you will be responsible for the care of approximately 15 acute hospital care inpatients, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, and on-call for general medicine.

The successful candidate will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will be expected to work well as a member of a team, with the ability to work as a team leader when required. You will possess good organisational and teaching skills, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in general medicine and associated specialties
  • Support the General Medical Wards as a Lead Clinician across the Integrated Medicine and Patient Flow Division
  • Advise colleagues on measures to prevent unnecessary admissions to Victoria Hospital and facilitate timely and appropriate discharge from secondary care

Person Specification

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and primary medical qualification
  • MRCP or equivalent, with consideration of applicants who are significantly progressing through CESR process
  • Broad exposure to General Medicine and Associated Specialty, with interest in other specialty areas
