Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will lead the Paediatric Emergency Medicine service and be responsible for ensuring robust PEM teaching and training for all doctors and nurses within the department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Emergency Medicine and a passion for teaching and leadership.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Paediatric Emergency Medicine service
  • Ensure robust PEM teaching and training for all doctors and nurses
  • Provide high-quality care to patients, including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff
  • Work with the Nurse Coordinator to ensure effective and timely communication between the clinical team
  • Coordinate paediatric resuscitation courses
  • Liaise with other paediatric departments in the hospital and the associated hospitals in the network
  • Lead doctor for child protection within the ED department
Requirements
  • Primary medical qualification
  • Full Registration with General Medical Council, FCEM, FRCA, FRCS, MRCP or equivalent
  • Entry on Specialist register or in receipt of CCT within 6 months of interview
  • Evidence of achievement of CT1/2/3 ACC Emergency Medicine competences or evidence of 36 months training in CT1/2/3 levels in all specialties that make up ACCS and CT3
  • Emergency Medicine Training Programme
  • PEM sub-specialist qualification through RCEM or RCPCH
  • ALS, EPALS/APLS, ATLS (ETC)
Personal Qualities
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the speciality
  • Registered as a member of RCEM
