Health and Safety Assistant

Tomato Energy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Assistant to support our dynamic team in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Health and Safety Procedures: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct Regular Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Identify and Mitigate Risks: Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Incident Reporting and Investigation:
  • Support Incident Investigations: Support the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents, ensuring that proper documentation is maintained.
  • Prepare Incident Reports: Assist in the preparation of reports following incidents, including recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain Incident Records: Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety inspections.
Training and Awareness:
  • Develop Health and Safety Training: Assist in the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees.
  • Promote Health and Safety Awareness: Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organisation by organising training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns.
  • Ensure Employee Awareness: Ensure all employees are aware of their health and safety responsibilities.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Regulations: Stay updated on relevant health and safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare for Audits: Assist in preparing for external audits and inspections.
Administrative Support:
  • Maintain Health and Safety Records: Maintain and update health and safety records, including risk assessments, safety audits, and training logs.
  • Prepare Health and Safety Documentation: Prepare and distribute health and safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident reports.
  • Provide Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Health and Safety Manager.
Emergency Preparedness:
  • Develop Emergency Response Plans: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Participate in Emergency Drills: Participate in emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
  • Coordinate First Aid Training: Support the coordination of first aid training and ensure that first aid kits are adequately stocked.
Qualifications:

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the energy sector or a similar industry. Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and delivering safety training. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

Skills: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices. Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
