Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel Commercial and Procurement

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team as a Commercial and Procurement Specialist. The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal advice and support to our Directorates across Mencap, focusing on commercial contracts and procurement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on commercial contracts and procurement to support Mencap's internal procurement process and Fundraising Teams.
  • Draft and negotiate robust commercial contracts, including IT agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Represent the Legal Services Team on various Panels and Committees, such as the Procurement Panel.
  • Work closely with different Teams and Directorates across Mencap to provide advice and assistance on commercial contracts and procurement.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years PQE and experience in commercial contract law.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Solid awareness of GDPR provisions.
  • Experience and good technical expertise in contract law and IT agreements.
  • Experience and good technical expertise in and awareness of regulation affecting fundraising agreements would be beneficial.
  • Analytical thinker and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident and effective communicator across all levels and understand how to share insights with stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills and strong collaborator.
  • Dynamic self-starter with a sound ability to manage your own workload.
  • Commercially pragmatic, able to succinctly evaluate complex issues and deliver clear, focused advice.
