**Unlock the Secrets of Pastoral Iron Age Societies**

We are seeking talented PhD students to contribute to our research project investigating the origins and evolution of Pastoral Iron Age societies in north-central Kenya. This interdisciplinary project, funded by a UKRI Frontier Research Grant, brings together bioarchaeological, archaeological, and materials sciences approaches to reconstruct exchange networks and diet strategies associated with Pastoral Iron Age sites.

**Project Aims and Objectives**

The Landscape Historical Ecology and Archaeology of Ancient Pastoral Societies in Kenya (LHEAAPS) project aims to investigate the following research questions: How did Pastoral Iron Age societies respond to climate change? What were their dietary preferences and how did they manage their herds? Our team is committed to conducting rigorous and innovative research that advances our understanding of Pastoral Iron Age societies.

**PhD Student Benefits**

As a PhD student on this project, you will receive a competitive stipend of approximately £15,009-£19,143 per annum, depending on your level of experience. You will also have access to comprehensive training in advanced research techniques, including isotopic analysis and geochemical methods, and participate in workshops and conferences to share your findings.
