About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the planning, organization, and execution of high-end events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in developing innovative and seasonal menus that meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Lead and manage a team of kitchen staff to ensure efficient and accurate preparation of dishes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and manage inventory.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Assist in achieving budgeted food sales, labor, and food costs, and contribute to the overall profitability of the organization.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a focus on presentation and quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
