About the Role

  • You will provide visionary leadership to the History department, setting the strategic direction and driving its continued success.
  • You will develop and implement a comprehensive vision for History education, aligning with the school's overarching goals and ensuring academic excellence.
  • Leading a team of talented History teachers, you will offer coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for professional growth, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • You will oversee the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in History, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Fostering a love of History among students, you will encourage active participation in enrichment activities, such as lectures, trips, and competitions.
  • As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to the wider strategic development of the school, driving academic excellence and student achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A qualified History Teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including significant leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
  • A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes in History.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for staying up-to-date with current historical developments.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
