About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Counsel and Company Secretary to join our team at Churchill Living (Developments) PLC. As a key member of our Executive Directors and Operations Board, you will provide pragmatic and commercial legal advice on a range of matters, including corporate governance and company secretary statutory responsibilities.
As a senior legal professional, you will have a proven track record of working in-house for a growing commercial business, with experience in corporate governance, company secretary duties, and legal strategy development. You will be well-versed in ensuring that all necessary governance is adhered to, while also providing sound commercial legal advice to a privately owned and run business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing legal advice to the Executive Directors and Operations Board on corporate governance and company secretary matters
- Developing and implementing the Company Legal strategy
- Working with third-party professionals to seek the best commercial approach to legal services
- Ensuring strong ethical standards and public policies are adhered to
- Attending PLC and Operations Board Meetings and recording accurate minutes
About You
We are looking for an individual with a solid and proven commercial and legal background, ideally from the housebuilding or property sector. You will be a qualified solicitor with 5 years PQE (or equivalent) and hold a Chartered Secretary qualification such as ICSA or equivalent. You will have experience in leading, developing, and managing a team of legal professionals and be able to take a commercial approach to decision-making.
