About the Role:

Mace is seeking an experienced Rail Infrastructure Project Manager to lead and direct the construction delivery team in the delivery of projects to standards, quality, and within budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of specific areas or work packages on projects, to key performance indicators (KPIs) on safety, quality, cost, and programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the construction delivery team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
  • Manage the process to handover assets being renewed, installed, or modified by the delivery team.
  • Produce, review, amend, approve, and submit to project teams the Design, Work, Work Package (DWWP) process for all project work.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with project delivery.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to delivery teams, creating a culture of ownership and promoting roles and responsibilities.
  • Support the development of project teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Contribute to the development of business strategies and plans, including identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.

Requirements:

  • Relevant technical competence, including personal track safety.
  • Experience in maintenance/construction management, processes, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance management processes.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of other functional disciplines.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication, and organization skills.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Working towards membership of MCIOB/MAPM/MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the rail sector.
  • Construction management expertise.
  • Developing commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience leading parts of construction projects within large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
