As a Pioneering Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of groundbreaking mechanical engineering capabilities for fusion energy production at UKAEA. The estimated salary for this position is £32,729 + excellent benefits, including an outstanding defined benefit pension scheme, corporate bonus scheme up to 7%, and generous annual leave allowance.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Engineering Division as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer within the UKAEA Special Techniques Group. As part of our two-year graduate scheme, you will develop both your general work-related skills and professional qualifications, with a focus on building your knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering.

During your tenure, you will be working closely with experienced engineering and project management staff, gaining hands-on experience through various roles on multiple programmes (~3-6 month rotations). These projects may include concept and design development, analysis and qualification, procurement and manufacture, product realization and testing, and more.

Key responsibilities will involve computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or other computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools, magnet and cryogenic system design, manufacture, and test, project management, operations, and/or repair & recovery of existing equipment, welding inspection and standard compliance, and management of discrete packages of work.
