Job Summary:
This is a permanent position within the Site Services team at the Element Six Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Harwell. The team supports the activities at the GIC with facilities management, machine installations, maintenance, and repairs. It is a multi-skilled team covering a wide range of disciplines such as electrical installations, machine maintenance, control systems, vacuum technology, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Fault finding and problem solving of equipment
  • Hands-on repairs, maintenance, and installation work
  • Contractor management, including inductions, safety plans, and performance evaluation
  • Project manage service, upgrades, and installations
  • Produce risk assessments, operating procedures, and equipment documentation for the team's needs. Support other team members to produce such documentation to a high standard.
  • Review procedures, work practices, and maintenance plans for improved cost effectiveness
  • Demonstrate professionalism, quality awareness, and an active engagement for high safety standards
  • Actively seek to develop depth and breadth of skills

Requirements:
  • NVQ, HNC, B.Tec or similar formal qualifications in an engineering-based discipline
  • Experienced and proficient in upkeep and fault finding on mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, preferably with additional engineering skills in areas such as hydraulics, vacuum systems and pneumatics.
  • Experienced in safe contractor management
  • Good general understanding of health, safety, and quality standards and ability to carry out risk assessments and write operating procedures to a high standard
  • Good communication skills within a team environment when working under pressure.
  • Good IT skills with proficiency in standard office software and relevant software for data acquisition, treatment, and processing.
