About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Acute Medicine Specialist to join our team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Physician in Acute Care, you will be responsible for leading ward rounds, supporting junior doctors, and providing clinical supervision to patients on our Acute Medicine Unit and Acute Medicine Assessment Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading ward rounds on the AMU, supporting junior doctors and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Post taking patients within ED and SDEC.
  • Supervision of patients returning to SDEC (ambulatory clinic).
  • Acute Medicine outpatients.
  • Education and clinical supervision of junior doctors.
  • Attendance and input into departmental and medical meetings.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Our services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital, Ellesmere Port Hospital, and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital. Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to Practice.
  • MRCP (or equivalent) and active ALS.

Desirable

  • CCT in Acute Medicine or General Medicine (or expected within 6 months of interview) or alternative route to specialist register (CESR).
  • Registered on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • An appropriate higher degree (eg an MD, PhD or equivalent).
