About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Acute Medicine Specialist to join our expanding team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Urgent Care Division, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of clinical processes that improve patient outcomes and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ward rounds on the Acute Medicine Unit, supporting junior doctors and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Post-take patients within the Emergency Department and SDEC.
  • Supervise patients returning to SDEC (ambulatory clinic).
  • Deliver Acute Medicine outpatients services.
  • Provide educational and clinical supervision to junior doctors.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental and medical meetings.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Our services are delivered from three locations: the Countess of Chester Hospital, Ellesmere Port Hospital, and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital. We employ over 6,258 staff and provide acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services, and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000.

Requirements

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practice.
  • MRCP (or equivalent) and active ALS.
  • Experience of working in acute medicine.
  • Evidence of teaching.
  • Relevant experience in undertaking and organization of an audit or quality improvement project.
  • Knowledge of appropriate clinical guidelines to acute medicine.
  • Ability to integrate, motivate, and provide professional lead in a multidisciplinary team.
