Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Residential Care Professional to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our care staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to children living in our residential homes. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents are met, promoting their independence and well-being.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to children in accordance with individual care plans, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Assist children with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and medication administration, maintaining accurate records as required.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment, promoting the independence and well-being of our residents.
  • Establish positive relationships with children, families, and other members of the care team, advocating for their rights and preferences.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to relevant staff members, contributing to the development and review of care plans.
  • Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities, encouraging social engagement and participation among residents.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in children's care or equivalent qualification.
  • Two years of prior experience working in a similar environment, preferably within a children's residential care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to providing care and support to children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of basic caregiving principles and techniques, including personal care and hygiene practices.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic documentation systems.

Working Conditions

  • The role involves working in a residential children's care setting, potentially involving assistance with mobility, lifting, and transferring.
  • The position may require long days, evenings, and weekends/bank holidays depending on the needs of the service.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for training and professional development, as well as a supportive and inclusive work environment.
