Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the Bristol Eye Hospital. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Accident and Emergency Department with essential diagnostic tests and patient care.

Key responsibilities will include performing visual acuities, checking ocular pressure, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing, and providing general personal care and support of the patient.

You will receive comprehensive training to enable you to provide all necessary diagnostic checks.

Main Duties

  • An ability to understand and undertake all clinical duties carried out by Ophthalmic Technicians.
  • Humphrey Visual Field testing
  • Optical Coherence Tomography
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring
  • Blood Glucose Testing
  • Irrigation
  • ECG recording

Your Qualifications

  • Extensive experience of ophthalmic care or at least 5 GCSEs to grade C or above including English, Maths and one other science subject
  • Extensive experience of ophthalmic care or at least 1 A level in a science subject grade C or above

Salary

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £24,071 - £25,674 per annum pro rata.
